Part 1: Technology Changes Work. People Shape it.
I want to start this series with a simple idea: technology may change the work, but people shape what that change becomes.
Barry and I have seen this many times. A new tool is introduced, a new process rolls out, or a new system is put in place.
It makes perfect sense on paper! But we end up seeing that the success of that change usually depends less on the tool itself and more on how people experience it.
That is so important right now as AI adoption grows. Research continues to show that many employees are already using AI at work, while organizations are still catching up with training, expectations, and clear guidance.
That gap creates confusion if leaders don't step in with communication and support. You're essentially building an airplane while you're flying!
The workplace that handles change well isn't the one with the newest tools. It's the workplace where people understand the purpose, feel included in the process, and know how to move forward.
And that starts with something we’ll look at in the next post: connection.
